Stockyard now stocking popular Osborne ‘Big Wheel’ Feeders
STOCKYARD Industries is pleased to announce its appointment as your supplier for Osborne ‘Big Wheel’ Feeders.
The range includes nurs- ery, finisher, bulk and large outdoor models.
With more than two decades in the industry, Osborne feeders set new performance standards for efficiency.
Osborne’s International Sales manager Brian Stro-
bel travelled from Kansas in the US to attend the recent Victorian Pig Fair and talk about and dem- onstrate the outstanding benefits of the Big Wheel Feeders.
A key feature of the Big Wheel Feeders is the pat- ented mechanical-flow feeding mechanism that effectively reduces feed waste.
Feed is delivered only when pigs are feeding,
so it’s always fresh and clean.
The exclusive Feed Rate Gauge and mechanical- flow system make flow rates easy to set, maintain and reset.
Turning the Rate Gauge handle raises and lowers a cone near the bottom of the Big Wheel feed hopper.
The height of that cone, not gravity, regulates the feed flow rate.
As they eat, the pigs turn a large multi-spoke feed wheel in the bottom of the feed trough.
A feed sweep attached to the feed wheel and lo- cated just inside the bot- tom of the hopper literally sweeps feed past the cone and out of the hopper as pigs move the feed wheel back and forth.
The feed falls through the centre hole into the trough, where the feed wheel dispenses it to the pigs.
No feed flows until pigs move the feed wheel.
When pigs stop eating, the feeder stops feeding.
Big Wheel Feeders are essentially self-regulating and self-cleaning.
Big Wheel Feeders are ruggedly built using UV- stable fibreglass with gal- vanised heavy steel con- struction or stainless steel as an option.
The feed trough is round, so there are no corners where feed can accumulate.
The round access also means better performance because less floor space is required and it allows for greater standing-room space for pigs.
Each Big Wheel Feeder is capable of feeding 60 pigs.
You can locate Big Wheel Feeders in the cen- tre of your pens, in fence lines, in concrete walls and even outdoors.
