Six years ago, the Brosnans set up two 3-million litre tanks to process the farm’s pig waste – along with food scraps from schools and cafes in town and cattle waste from the local meatworks – to create methane, which is used to power a gen- erator.
BettaPork general manager Laurie Bro- snan, whose grandfa- ther founded the farm in 1959, said a trial using two bitcoin mining terminals has already proved successful and more generators will soon be added.

The taste test was over- seen by esteemed judges including celebrity chef Adrian Richardson, award-winning free range pig producer Judy Croagh of Western Plains Pork, fleishmeister Ralf Dink of Oakwood Smallgoods and Ms Andrae.
Results meant shoppers had information about the best pick at their local su- permarket of choice.
With sustainability front of mind for the pork in- dustry, APL ensured that all hams supplied for judging did not go to waste.
Leftover hams were care- fully packed and donated to Foodbank Australia at the conclusion of judging – an ongoing partnership the two organisations – ensuring our Aussie pork can help those in need.
Following a successful partnership to promote Aussie bacon for National Bacon Day, Harris Farm and APL created a special Christmas bundle to take the hassle out of Christmas Day preparation.
The Christmas Ham Box included a 4.5kg Aussie half-leg ham along with ingredients and a recipe to create the perfect nec- tarine and Harris Farm triple-berry jam glaze for the big day.
New festive recipes, tips and tricks were shared across all APL social media channels in the lead up to the big day – to guarantee customers had seamless Christmas meal preparation before family and loved ones joined them.
The pork.com.au web- site received 363,911 page views during November and December, and across social channels reached over 434,000 users.
APL also worked with Pinterest – a channel that sees over 4.7 million
