Due to be released early next year, the new pump is ideal for both corrosive and abrasive wastewater applications.In addition to being a breakthrough in terms of its resilience, longevity and price.Aussie Pumps chief engineer John Hales said, %u201cThe big news is that we%u2019ve been able to drop the price of these pumps, as our volumes of cast stainless-steel components from the foundry build.%u201d%u201cThese pumps are cast in Europe under an ISO 9001 quality system and that means they are certified by the factory before heading our way,%u201d Mr Hales said.The new 4%u201d pump is close coupled to a heavy-duty 15kW three phase IP55 rated motor. It is capable of producing flows to 2120LPM and heads to 29m. Its self-priming design means it can draw water with a vertical lift of 6m.Inside, the pump features a cast 316 stainless-steel open vane impeller and large internal passages that enable compressible spherical solids up to 32mm in size to pass through the pump body. The pump features carbon mechanical seals with nitrile rubber seals, however Viton seals are also an option for corrosive applications.%u201cWe%u2019re seeing a renaissance in selfpriming pumps, over long-column sump pumps, as farmers realise the benefits that surface-mounted pumps bring,%u201d Mr Hales said.Aussie Pumps has set out to replace longcolumn sump pumps and submersibles with convenient selfpriming pumps. They%u2019ve been particularly successful in livestock wastewater applications. Unlike long-column sump pumps, surfacemounted self-priming pumps can easily be checked during routine maintenance, and they are clean and simple to service.%u201cWhat we%u2019ve found is that farmers like being able to service the pump without having to pull it out of the pit,%u201d Mr Hales said.Aussie GMP stainless-steel motor pumps are already available ex stock in the 2%u201d and 3%u201d configurations, with flows to up to 1300LPM.%u201cThese stainless-steel pumps are excellent value for money and will outlast cast iron equivalents many times over,%u201d Mr Hales said. The company is also working on a high-head version of the 3%u201d pump, model G3TMK-A/X powered by an 11kW motor, that will produce heads to 55m. This is likely to be released later next year. This involves a review of standards, policies and documentation. It plays an important role in ensuring the APIQ Program%u2019s overall integrity, credibility and preparedness and ensures the program continues to meet the needs of the pork supply chain. The 2024-25 major review kicked off in July and is expected to be completed in June 2025.The scope of the 2024-25 major review is:%u2022 Review of the %u2018freerange%u2019 definition and associated standards%u2022 Review the JASANZ formula, (which applies to sites holding joint APIQ certification)%u2022 Incorporation of the work completed in the 2023 APIQ minor review, focused on removing duplication and enhancing the clarity of the existing standards%u2022 A review and update of the full certification policies document%u2022 A review of APIQ%u2019s scope (regarding standards and modules)%u2022 Review of the APIQ fee review process and exploration of options to ensure APIQ remains affordable for producers%u2022 An update of the compliance guide to promote consistency of audits and to enhance producer and auditor understanding of the standards, their intended outcome and how to demonstrate compliance%u2022 A review and update of APIQ resources and templates to support the APIQ Program and its stakeholders, be that on farm, during audits and/or as part of APIQ management and APIQ panel responsibilities.The major review aims to engage with stakeholders across the pork supply chain and invites stakeholders to provide feedback or otherwise be involved in the review process. This includes but is not limited to pig producers, retailers, processors, veterinarians, transporters, government staff, environmental consultants and auditors. Over the past few months, APIQ management has been reaching out to producers and stakeholders to provide feedback regarding the APIQ program. We have released surveys that will be closing at the end of November to give the APIQ management team time to collate the feedback and start incorporating it into the standards and resources.We will then be presenting the proposed changes to industry for feedback in face-toface workshops in February and March 2025. Current plans are for one face-to-face workshop in each state, as well as online options to ensure all stakeholders have the opportunity to be involved.
